Live and let dye at Oxley Park

After being seriously messed about by Wood Newton earlier in the week, and another decent meeting with the George Wimpey site manager on Tuesday another full day of disruption followed yesterday (Wednesday) as more water testing was underway on our eco house.
I could ramble on for ages about how unhappy we are with the attitude [...]

Nine thirty meeting going as expected…

Yesterday around five we had a visit from Wood Newton saying they wanted to call in tomorrow morning (now) at 9:30 to look at the leaks and so on.
As is par for the course, it’s 10am and we’ve seen or heard nothing, despite seeing one of the Wood Newton managers go by the house just [...]

We’re still leaking

Horrible, horrible discovery this past Sunday morning. Our eco house is still leaking, considerably so.
8th July 2008 is the first time we witnessed rain water coming through our internal walls and ceilings. Almost a year later and our George Wimpey eco house, constructed using materials such as wood and recycled paper, is still [...]

Positive meeting and a step in the right direction

I should work for the red tops with such pun mastery as this.
Anyway, today the meeting that never was, twice, finally took place.  Almost all were present and correct, representing the builders corner were the site manager, customer service manager from Taylor Wimpey, architect (but from Taylor Wimpey and NOT from Rogers Stirk Harbour + [...]

Big meeting scheduled tomorrow

So it seems things are being taken ever more seriously by those involved in the design and construction of our Oxley Woods eco house, and finally the meetings that never happened are due, again, to happen tomorrow.
Confirmed today, just to be sure, tomorrow we can expect to be visited by management and staff from Taylor [...]

Glad we couldn’t afford carpets…

Or this could have been even more stressful!
As you can see if you look over our snagging lists, and read our other problems with rain water entering our Oxley Woods eco home, we’ve had quite a number of issues. This in itself has been extremely disappointing and stressful. Some of the workmen, who [...]

Meetings that never happen and a house stripped and redressed

Due to the problems we have been experiencing since early July with rain water coming into our Oxley Woods eco home, it was decided by someone at Wimpey that a meeting should be held with several important people present. We’re not entirely sure who was supposed to be at these meetings with us, but [...]

We have more water in yet another location

When term “leako home” came to mind after first discovering that our house wasn’t rain proof back in July, I would never have imagined that come November we’d still be waiting for repairs to be completed on some of those initial leaks and the damage they caused, let alone be discovering ever more locations where [...]

Further, serious leaking in the kitchen

We already posted about the rain water making its way into the kitchen above the window.  While we had seen the marks to show this, we hadn’t actually witnessed this water “in action”, not until today.
We’ve had a hell of a lot of disruption lately, including five consecutive days of work on one side of [...]

The leaks came back!

Following on from our series of leaks and fixes, during the weekend following the final painting and filling over the “repair hatch” that was cut in our wall for leak detection work, it turned out that all was not well.
As we sat in the living room on the evening of the 4th of October, my [...]
