Tired of being lied to, and the same old same old…

So Yesterday afternoon, weeks after we had our walls and ceiling filled on every floor of the house, out of the blue Peter from Wood Newton arrives at our door.
The painters are on site “I assume you want it painting” (could he be any more antagonistic with his choice of words?!) and can they do [...]

It’s a cracking, moving situation

In no way is the small movement occurring on the windows causing the glazed units to crack.
These words come as part of a brief and incomplete set of answers provided by John Green of Wood Newton when we raised a number of concerns, including questioning why one of our windows, and one of our neighbours [...]

Oxley Woods war of attrition?

Been meaning to update the site more, but been busy. Bit like when Wood Newton and George Wimpey are supposed to carry out work on the houses in the neighbourhood.
Fortunately, nobody is booking days off work or rearranging their schedules while they wait for me to post my latest, usually depressing update about life [...]

Should we have said “yes” to ITV?

Last October and November, people representing ITV got in touch.
They had seen and heard about our problems at Oxley Park and with the nature of this “prestige” and “award winning” development of eco homes, they were pretty keen to come and see us, and talk about featuring us on one of their “Problem Property”/”Homes from [...]

Frustration, frustration, frustration…

This week (some point this week) work was supposed to begin on a proper engineered solution to over a year’s worth of water ingress through and around our windows of our George Wimpey / Wood Newton Oxley Park eco homes.
That’s what everyone had told us anyway.
So, here we are, on Thursday afternoon, with no word [...]

WTF?! Seriously, WTF?!

Thought for a while about the “headline” for this post, then went back to the original. Because that is EXACTLY what I’m feeling right now.
To cut an increasingly long story short, Wood Newton and George Wimpey plan to solve our issues by replacing all windows and doors. A VERY big job. But [...]

Live and let dye at Oxley Park

After being seriously messed about by Wood Newton earlier in the week, and another decent meeting with the George Wimpey site manager on Tuesday another full day of disruption followed yesterday (Wednesday) as more water testing was underway on our eco house.
I could ramble on for ages about how unhappy we are with the attitude [...]

Plans changing without notice. Again.

So today we were due to carry on with the various water leak tests that were underway on Friday.
Only instead at 8:30 Aiden from Wood Newton who was the senior staff member on site on Friday was nowhere to be seen, nor the other two Wood Newton workers who were aiding with the hose and [...]

A day of disquiet

It’s approaching 4pm on Friday and the guys from Wood Newton are just finishing putting the Trespa panels back on the side of our Oxley Woods eco house.
Today has been a very stressful day, and although more faults and problems have been found, it feels like we’re only scratching the surface, and that any genuine [...]

We’re half way there…

Well, actually, not quite half way.
So today is yet another “big day”, another day finding and plugging leaks, another day of our exterior panels being stripped off, another day of disruption, another day of lost sleep for our 16 month old daughter, another unproductive working day, and another day of seeing our house taken apart [...]
